The Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM), in association with Hallowed Ground Tours, presents a series of walking tours of downtown Fredericksburg and its historic neighborhoods.
On each Federal Holiday Weekend (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and Columbus Day) we offer walking tours of each Historic District, in rotation: Downtown, Washington Avenue, Lower Caroline Street, and Hanover Street.
Tour guides will discuss examples of four-centuries of architecture and unravel the history of people who helped shape the Fredericksburg community. These tours offer a glimpse of the rich layers of history that make up the community. Each tour lasts about 1-1/2 hours and are gentle walks of approximately 8 to 10 blocks.
