The garden at the museum is planted simply with boxwood and other chosen specimens, and includes a bust of Monroe. Today, the James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library contains a remarkable collection of the personal possessions, furnishings, and papers of Monroe and his wife Elizabeth. Many of the pieces were purchased while Monroe served as emissary to France and were later used in the Monroe White House. Adult admission, $5; students $1. Group rates available. Open March 1-November 30, Monday-Saturday 10 am-5 pm, Sunday 1pm-5 pm. December 1-February 28, Monday-Saturday 10 am-4pm, Sunday 1 pm-4pm.
