This is the Place to Gather

Whether it’s a youth sports event, a meeting, reunion or convention that has brought your family to the Fredericksburg region, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy. Put that downtime to use and start exploring!

From the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center, it’s a straight shot down Carl D. Silver Parkway to a huge array of shopping and dining options in Central Park and the Spotsylvania Towne Centre. Let the kids burn energy at Sky Zone Trampoline Park and Funland of Fredericksburg.

If you’ve been inside all day and need some fresh air, take River Road to the Motts Run Reservoir, where you can cast a line, take a hike, or enjoy the pristine view in a canoe.

For nighttime fun, check out the movie selection at Regal Fredericksburg & IMAX or Paragon Theaters. Or hit the lanes at Paragon where you can enjoy gourmet food and drinks while you bowl in their luxury lanes.

From the FFC Spotsylvania Sportsplex, head to the Robin’s Nest Café at Shannon Airport, just a quick drive down Tidewater Trail, for a unique lunch with a view of landing airplanes. While you’re there, check out the antique aircraft on display at the Shannon Air Museum.

For some fun for the grownups, make time to tour the A. Smith Bowman Distillery, and stop in at Maltese Brewing Co. to get a taste of the region’s craft beer scene. Strangeways Brewing is has a brewery and taproom nearby on Landsdowne Road, making this a fruitful neighborhood for craft beer lovers. Maltese and Strangeways are a part of the Fredericksburg Area Brew Trail. Get started on your FAB Trail passport here.

Head out Landsdowne Road to Lee Drive, part of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park. Lee Drive runs along what was the Confederate defensive line during the 1862 Battle of Fredericksburg.

From the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center in Stafford County, you’re about 20 minutes away from a world of dining options near Interstate 95 exit 143 at Garrisonville Road, including Umi Japanese Cuisine, I Luv Teriyaki, Mission BBQ  and Zibibbo 73. Save room for the delectable hand-made cupcakes at The Icing Baking Company.

Work off your meal with a hike at Government Island, site of the quarry where stone was sourced for the U.S. Capitol Building and the White House. Don’t leave this part of Stafford County without taking in a view of the grand Potomac River from Hope Springs Marina, which rents canoes and standup paddleboards, or Aquia Landing Park, where you can picnic on the beach.

If your stay includes time for a round of golf, Augustine Golf Club is only three miles from the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center.

History lovers will want to make time to visit the Stafford Civil War Park and Aquia Church.
