Summer brought a wave of progress and new business to the Fredericksburg region. From breaking ground to axe throwing, to delicious Mediterranean food, there’s even more to love about the region!

Baseball stadium update– We would be remiss not to start here. The stadium has broken ground and lots of progress has been made, as you can see in the video below. The team’s new name will be announced in early October, so stay tuned for that exciting update!


Fredericksburg’s Roller Hockey Rink is well underway! This is the only full-sized public roller hockey rink in a 50 mile radius. Mark your calendars: Inaugural season: July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020.

The rink will have:

  • Tot & youth inline hockey clinics, leagues and games
  • Adult inline hockey
  • Summer camp
  • Open for public pickup games
  • Events and rentals

Here is one of the first events at the rink!

For 12 – 16 year olds (for those who typically will not be trick or treating). Halloween Skate Night at the new Fredericksburg Roller Hockey Rink! Bring your own skates if you wish to skate. Interactive fun for those wearing tennis shoes too! It will be a great time with candy, glow in the dark items, scary movie (rated G) on the inflatable screen, black lights, etc.
$3 per person by October 24. $5 per person after Oct. 24th and at the gate.

Fatty’s Taphouse has opened in Cosner’s Corner– Their menu consists of fresh seafood burgers, subs, wraps, and more. We can’t forget the 30 self serve beer taps, either! Happy Hour Monday-Sunday 4-7 pm

Kickback Jack’s is coming to Southpoint AND they are hiring. “Kickback Jack’s is a sports themed restaurant serving a wide variety of scratch made food: Fresh Burgers, Hand cut fries, fresh grilled-fried-dry rubbed wings, Slow roasted baby back ribs, and fresh made salads.

Kick’n Axe is in Stafford – Talk about a unique date night or girls/ guys night out! Who wouldn’t want to try their hand at throwing and axe? Remember to wear closed toed shoes for obvious reasons. Never thrown an axe? No worries! Their staff will go over some quick techniques before you get started. Reservations are recommended via their Facebook page. Walk ins are welcome. 

Cava has opened!- Conveniently located next to Regal Cinemas in Central Park, Cava offers Mediterranean stye Quick Dining and a great atmosphere. Craving Cava, but don’t have time to stop in? Their online ordering and pickup window is phenomenal!

Wine and Design is moving to downtown – Hey, Wine and Design lovers! Your favorite small business has moved downtown to 709 Caroline Street. Check out their new place at your next class!

“Yankees in Falmouth” it is now called Civil War Weekend at White Oak – Sep 14 at 9 AM – Sep 15 at 4 PM – The annual “Yankees in Falmouth!” Civil War living history event has a new home and a new name, “Civil War Weekend at White Oak!” September 14th and 15th. Nearly 100 re-enactors, living historians, and impressionists will be at the grounds of the White Oak Civil War Museum on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The privately operated and renowned Civil War Museum in Stafford County Virginia at 985 White Oak Road in Falmouth is located only 5 miles east of the former “Yankees in Falmouth!” site.

Itavie New York Grill & Bakery Get ready to add this new restaurant to your top ten list! You’ll find Italian fusion favorites and sandwiches on the menu, as well as a New York Cheesecake section,  homemade gelato, and crema coffee! A must if you are in the Spotsylvania area.
