‘Tis the season for Christmas parties and something a little extra sparkly in your glass. The Fredericksburg Region is home to award winning spirits, wine, and craft beer. What better place to grab a hostess gift or a little something special for your own get together.

For spirits, it doesn’t get much better than A. Smith Bowman.

This hard working distillery offers world renowned bourbon and whiskey as well as gin, rum, and vodka.  We think their recipe for Winter Bourbon Smash sounds amazing and the Varuna is a fun twist on traditional eggnog!

Local Craft Beer is always a crowd pleaser!

There are several fantastic breweries in the Fredericksburg Region. Here’s a peak at what’s in store this holiday season.

Barley Naked Brewing Company released Pint of Cheer, on Friday December 6th.  The Pint of Cheer is a mildly spiced beer with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla beans, allspice, cloves, coriander seeds, and zest fromtangerines. The Pint of Cheer also has additions of honey, golden syrup and blackstrap molasses, sits at 6.1% ABV and is served in a Cinnamon Sugar rimmed Pint Glass.

Agora Coffee Porter is on left. Fall Into Winter Brown Ale is on right.

Highmark Brewery’s latest seasonal brews are Agora Coffee Porter (beer on the left in both pictures. ) and Fall Into Winter (Pumpkin Gingerbread) Brown Ale. For the Agora Coffee Porter, “we teamed up with with Agora Downtown Coffee Shop located in Fredericksburg VA.,” says, Rick Martinez, Highmark Brewery.” We took their coffee and steeped it in the porter for a rich and bold coffee flavor.  It tastes like you’re drinking a cold brew, but its beer!” Fall Into Winter (Pumpkin Gingerbread) Brown Ale (right) is brewed with gingerbread spices and over 60 pounds of roasted pumpkin!  This beer is the perfect balance of both fall and winter flavors.  It is definitely a fan favorite.

Strangeways Brewing’s brewer recommends their Monk’s Indulgence Honey Ginger Tripel. It is brewed to considerable strength with Vienna, White Wheat, and Belgian Aromatic Malts and finished with wildflower honey and fresh ginger. This Abbey style Tripel is sweet, strong and spicy that goes well with the holiday season. It is 9.1% ABV and 18 IBU.
