When it’s 100 degrees outside, who wants to cook? Let the restaurants of Fredericksburg do the work for you during 2021’s Summer Restaurant Week, July 23 through August 1.

Participating restaurants will offer specials ending in .21 during the week. Depending on the specific restaurant and price point, this could mean a three course meal for $30.21 or two courses for one person for $13.21. Find a full list of restaurants and sample menus here.

These are independent restaurants that serve a variety of cuisines at varying price points. That means there’s something here for everyone, and that there are endless ways to fit a Restaurant Week visit into a fun summer outing.

Here are some tips for making the most of this warm-weather promotion.

Plan ahead.
Tip: It’s always a good idea to call ahead during Restaurant Week to see if you need a reservation. You’ll also benefit from perusing the menus available online so that you know what kind of special the restaurant you plan to visit is offering. For example, Pimenta’s menu offers three courses per person for $31.21 which makes this a great option for an affordable date night. Tapa Rio has delicious three-course lunch options that will make you want to add an extra half hour to your lunch break to enjoy it.

Check on hours.
Restaurants maintain the same schedules during Restaurant Week that they do throughout the rest of the year. Be sure to check the hours before you come to town to make sure you don’t show up to find out that your destination eatery is closed on Mondays, or that they aren’t open for lunch.

Make a day of it.
With both lunch and dinner specials, Restaurant Week is a great time to be a tourist in Downtown Fredericksburg. Walk off your midday meal with visits to Rising Sun Tavern, Fredericksburg Area Museum, Historic Kenmore or the James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library. If you take your restaurant week meal receipt to Rising Sun Tavern, your admission is half price! Hours for the museums can be found here. Find a perfect new outfit at Peacaloo or Pye & Co, or shop Downtown’s many antiques and specialty shops for the perfect addition to your home décor. Look for the “Open Late” banners hanging at downtown merchants if you’re shopping at the dinner hour. Book a romantic carriage ride for after dinner here.

Try something new
If you’ve never been to Deutschland Downtown, their backyard biergarten is an ideal place to spend a summer evening. Enjoy outdoor dining at Alpine Chef, Colonial Tavern, Ristorante Renato, Castiglia’s or Sedona Taphouse just to name a few. For quick bites, head over to 25 30 Espresso, Italian Station or Sweet Reasons.

Eat local
Summer is prime time for local produce, and the chefs of Downtown Fredericksburg go out of their way to make the most of what area farmers bring them. Feel inspired by something you eat? Come back to the Fredericksburg Farmers Market to stock up on the same fruits and vegetables that made it possible.
