Our annual Earth Day Festival is back this year to celebrate and protect our beautiful planet. This year, to keep everyone safe, the Earth Day Festival will be a series of smaller or virtual events instead of one huge festival which just means there is more (free!) fun spread throughout the week for you to take part in! Visit for more information on each of these fun events:

  • April 11-17 – Virtual BioBlitz: Use the iNaturalist app to identify species all around Fredericksburg and compete to observe and identify the most for prizes.
  • April 15-17 – Chalk & Talk Art Contest: Create beautiful works of art with an Earth Day theme on sidewalks, driveways, or paved trails. Submit pictures of your work to be posted on Facebook (@FredParksRec). Creations with the most likes will be eligible to win prizes!
  • April 16 – Earth Day Drive-In Concert Night: Enjoy live music, cool demonstrations, food trucks, and more! Performances by Darcy Dawn and Cat’s Meow. Experience the concert from the comfort of your car! Location: Old Mill Park.
  • April 17 – Earth Day Drive-In Movie Night: Bring out the whole family for a drive-in viewing of The Lorax, presented by the R-Board. Live demonstrations and videos will precede the movie and food trucks will be on-site.
