Honor Urbane Bass, MD Social Ruck
DATEFebruary 14 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
As a way to honor Black History Month the FXBG Rucking Group will host two events to highlight heroic people of color from our local history.
Urbane Bass, MD was the first black licensed physician in Fredericksburg. He served faithfully in this community until the United States joined WWI. He volunteered for service in this war and died caring for soldiers on the Western Front in October 1918. He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his gallant service.
The ruck will visit the Fredericksburg Area War Memorial, his grave in the Fredericksburg National Cemetery and other sites important in his life.
