New Coronavirus measures took effect on Monday, December 14:
A modified stay-at-home order and the new restrictions took effect Monday, December 14. The new regulations do not alter capacity limits at restaurants, hotels or campgrounds, and previous guidelines for businesses remain in effect.

Here are some highlights from the new restrictions:

  • A universal mask requirement for all indoor spaces or outdoors if within 6 feet of another individual
  • Social gatherings will be limited to no more than 10 people (down from 25)
  • Individuals are required to remain at home every day between midnight and 5 a.m., but obtaining food and goods, traveling to/ from work, and seeking medical attention are exempt from this requirement
  • Restaurants must continue to end sales of alcohol after 10 p.m., and restaurants must close to in-person dining by midnight
  • Stepped-up enforcement at businesses

The governor said that the restrictions will end January 31 or sooner if conditions related to the COVID-19 spread improve. Read the Executive Order here. We are currently in Forward Virginia – Phase Three. You can learn more about Fredericksburg Region’s COVI9-19 updates here.
*Please note: All individuals are urged to continue to adhere to social distancing guidelines and use face coverings when in public. If you feel sick or are showing any symptoms of being sick, stay home.

Restaurants and Beverage Services
Includes: Restaurants, dining establishments, food courts, breweries, cideries, mobile units (food trucks), distilleries, wineries, and tasting rooms.
During Phase 3, businesses should continue to offer takeout and delivery options. If businesses choose to open to dine-in customers, they may do so in indoor and outdoor spaces. All parties must be separated by at least six feet, including in the bar area, (i.e., the six
feet cannot include the space taken up by the seated guest). If tables are not movable, seat parties at least six feet apart. All parties, whether seated together or across multiple tables, must be limited to 10 patrons or less. Bar seats and congregating areas of restaurants must be closed to patrons except for through-traffic. Non-bar seating in the bar area (i.e., tables or counter seats that do not line up to a bar or food service area) may be used for customer seating as long as a minimum of six feet is provided between parties at tables. Governor Northam Prohibits Congregating in Bars, Stresses Caution As Virginia Moves to Phase Three, read here.

The NPS asks all visitors to abide CDC guidelines for social distancing. The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners continues to be paramount. At Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania NMP, our operational approach will be to examine each facility function and service provided to ensure those operations comply with current public health guidance and will be regularly monitored. We continue to work closely with the NPS Office of Public Health using CDC guidance to ensure public and workspaces are safe and clean for visitors, employees, partners, and volunteers.

While these areas are accessible for visitors to enjoy, a return to full operations will continue to be phased and services may be limited. When recreating, the public should follow local area health orders, practice Leave No Trace principles, avoid crowding and avoid high-risk outdoor activities.

The CDC has offered guidance to help people recreating in parks and open spaces prevent the spread of infectious diseases. We will continue to monitor all park functions to ensure that visitors adhere to CDC guidance for mitigating risks associated with the transmission of COVID-19 and take any additional steps necessary to protect public health.
